When you think about love what comes to mind? Flowers? Meadows? Sunset walks on the beach?
Dr. Scott Peck, author of the Road Less Traveled, defined it as “giving one’s total self for the spirit growth of another.” I thought that was interesting because we rarely think of love as a spiritual experience. We think of it emotionally, mentally, physically, carnally but almost never spiritually.
Giving on one’s spiritual reserves is the ultimate in unconditional love. Love that doesn’t stop because one person is having a bad day or in a bad mood. Love that understands the need to heal the heart, even if you did not break it.
Love that encourages and supports even decisions we do not agree with and catches the loved one when it falls apart. Giving of one’s total self for the spirit growth of another.
Who are you sacrificing for? Have a beautiful day!
