Some people chose to believe that God has hands, feet, eyes, a nose, two lips, two ears and all other human appendages. I choose not to believe this.
I am no atheist. I believe God is the creator of the universe and he alone imagined the world into existence.
Jesus, on the other hand, was totally God and totally human. He did have appendages and the ability to physically feel and touch.
To say you feel God’s love sounds great, but realistically, how so? The fear that a lot of people of faith have is knowledge. Knowing and seeking knowledge takes nothing away from your faith. God is love, a spirit, a feeling, even a yearning if you will .
It is like Alice Walker said, ” I think it pisses God off when you walk past the color purple in a field and don’t notice it.” In a talk I heard her give later, she explained that it wasn’t about purple. It was about understanding that God is everywhere, not just church bibles and memorized sculptures. He is the grass, the moon, the water and the food. He is everywhere.
Special colors like purple demonstrate simple love by giving our senses something to behold besides a sea of green.
